Life on the road

It all started in about December of 2011. There I was jobless, broke and nothing to my name. But I knew I couldn't last like this for long. So I did what any supportive husband would do. I went out and found a job that sacrifices a lot. That job was getting into the field of professional driving. So I made the initial step and called up a few companies. One company that sparked my interest was a company called C.R. England. They offered me free training. Unfortunately it was also unpaid training. So for three weeks I managed to live on what little food I was able to bring with me on a bus trip and a total of 40 bucks. After my three week training, I was then sent out with a trainer. Although he didn't teach me much about driving, he did teach me about the ropes of C.R. England. I completed 30 days with him! He wasn't a bad guy. He was very clean, and polite. His native home was in Africa which I thought was pretty cool! Well after my 30 days with him, i was then sent to Burns Harbor, Indiana to do a phase 1 upgrade. After completing my phase 1 upgrade with flying colors I was then sent out with a Phase 2 trainer. This stage of the training was suppose to teach me how to be successful in leasing a truck through C.R. England. However I did learn some good pointers through my first phase 2 trainer. I knew leasing wasn't going to be for me! After only one week with my phase 2 trainer I had to be issued another phase 2 trainer because my first one was taking home time for longer than a week. My second phase 2 trainer had great intentions. But had no  idea how to run a trucking business and honestly had no right trying to teach me how to run one either. But anyways instead of sitting in a hotel waiting for someone else to come along. It turns out beside the bad business person he really was a cool guy. On our first trip together he took me to his house and he made me a steak dinner! And man was it delicious!! After that though things didn't go as planned. We never really got training miles nor team miles for that fact. So things got a little rough. After about 3 weeks with this guy I finally had enough. I called up my training manager and was like hey I need off this truck asap how can I do that? She was like apply for a Mid-western regional fleet. So that's what I did.
I went on some home time. which was well needed because I haven't been home for over two months now! Well when it was time to come off my home time, I was issued a bus ticket back to Burns Harbor, Indiana. This is were i did my upgrade process again. After completing my upgrade, I was then assigned a truck and was on my way to making some big money!
Here I am finally driving solo. Or so I thought. to be continued...........

update of the story

Ok so when i left off, I was telling you about the move to Ohio. Well we did find a nice 2 bedroom apartment in Jefferson Ohio. And We were able to puchase most of everything back with the exception of centimental stuff that cant ever be replaced with money. But life goes on. So I found a Job as a proffesional driver for a company called C.R. England it has been a rough start to the job but like any job you have to start somewhere. I am Currently in the midwestern regional fleet. I love it!! The pay is also pretty good. My wife on the other hand had some schooling set up for december but the class couldn't start because there wasn't enough people to start the class. so she had to wait until January. But as you can see its now April now. She got her classed done and passed her state test on her first try!!! Man i am so proud of her!! She is currently A STNA  that means state tested nurse's assistant. She had a job at the company but decided that the company was not good enough because the pay wasn't right. But she bounced back and found a Good paying Job. But after only working two days she got the worse luck ever!! She started with an ruptured ear drum tured it into an ear infection and then the infection spread to her upper respiratory infection which soon later turned into a sinus infection, needless to say she was off work for 4 days and they let her go. But I have faith in her that she will do what is right and find another job! If not she can come out with me and learn how to drive and then we can make lots of money together!!!! So that brings you pretty much up to date on everything! There are some not so happy parts to this but I am going to leave them out!! Please become a follower!!!

The Story

A long time ago. On a cold and windy October day. Everything seemed to be fine. I woke up at 5:30am as I do every day that I have to go to work. I spend my time at work, and around 2:30 in the afternoon I get a call from my mother. This quite suprizes me. Mainly cuz my mother never calls me to talk. I answer the phone and the first words out of my mother's mouth were "Rob your apartment is on fire!" My initial reaction was like fricken sweet. Mainly because I am insured. Then I made it home to find my loving wife just about in tears. Then it really hit me we really just lost everything of value. We only had the clothes on our back and the stuff that was carried in our pockets left. But wait!  Who is this?  The Red Cross from Clarion County, PA. They helped us out with $225 dollars to get us some food and clothes. Later that same afternoon the fire companies finally finsihed their job. Now it was time to really assess the damages! Once we got inside it was worst than i originally thought. Everything in the living room was schorched, the walls, the celling, the floor, the tv, tv stand, my gaming console, my dish network box. The kitchen was heavly smoked heat and smoked damaged. The tempetures got so hot in the kitchen that it melted my fish tank that was 30 feet away from the main fire in the living room. Now as we walk down the hall to the other rooms, we noticed that one room on the left was basically untouched. But looking at the bedroom straight across from the one on the left. It was totally trashed by the fire. This was becasue the fire started on the out side wall of that bedroom. Smoke filled the whole apartment. We walked further down the hall and look in the bathroom. It looks as if they sprayed a foam everywhere in the bathroom to contain a fire. But then i noticed that my shaving cream can is busted wide open. It was a brand new can. Now with a bathroom destroyed, we dare to go look at the master bedroom. In the master bedroom we notice that our bed has gone from white to black our blankes covered with ash. Everything in the bed room soaking wet from the firefighters. Now after doing my complete walk through of my burnt apartment it was time to really think. I went out to my truck I sat in my trunk and was like wow did this really happen to me again? The last fire also happened in October. Although it has been nearly 20 years ago.  My wife finds me sitting in my truck. She enters my truck and asks me that stupid question that everyone ask when something is wrong. "Are you ok?" Well then just in that instant I hug my wife and we both started crying. Realizing that we have nothing. But after our emotions calm down we go to dinner at a lovely restaraunt in Emlenton, PA. Called the Emlenton truck stop. It is located off of Interstate 80 at exit 42. After dinner we then decide to stay at my mothers untill we can get things figured out. A few days later our insurance adjuster calls us and sets up a meeting with my wife and I at a local restaurant in Parker Pa Called Bob's place. Here at this meeting we talked about what went on and how it started. At the end of our meeting the adjuster gave us a check for $2000 as a starter to get things in some order. Now here comes the hard part going through everything you lost so you can write down and claim it under insurance purposes. Back through the horror story we go. Well after a coulpe of days we finally completed our list of things and turned it in to the insurance company. Well this is the part where thing start to look up!!! About three days later the insurance adjuster calls my wife and tells her that our estimated lost was valued at $9,025.68. After all having insurance really did pay off! But now comes the bad part again. We have $9,025.68 to spend to get everything that we lost. But we have no place to live. I mean yea we are staying at my mother's place. But thats not a place to live. So comes the search to find a place to live. Now that our lease is broke because of a house fire my wife comes up with the great idea that she wants to move back to Ohio to be closer to her mother. Which I guess I am fine with. I just don't like Ohio. The laws are all messed up The Weather in northern Ohio is worse than PA. And trying to find a decent job in Ohio is just about impossible. But I will do what ever it takes to make my wife happy.  Tune in next time for the rest of the story!!!
